Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) causes the heart to weaken and constricts the heart from pumping blood effectively. To combat DCM, a peptide was designed to keep myosin in an “on” state or a more active state within the mysonin S2 peptide. The peptide is specific to the S2 region in order to prevent the S1 heads from binding and being in an “off” state. It was computationally tested with various peptide designs with different amino acid sequences for their predicted binding affinity to the S2 region using molecular dynamics simulations with the Maestro online software.
