This study tests two competing acculturation models, the linear acculturation model and the two-dimensional acculturation model, among Asian Americans across multiple generations of immigrants. We recruited 584 participants to complete a questionnaire measuring their acculturation of different cultural aspects. Multiple regression analyses showed an inverse relationship between the overall adoption of American culture and the overall maintenance of Asian culture, which provides evidence to support the linear acculturation model. However, we also found that the acculturation process is not the same for all cultural aspects. The behavioral aspect followed the linear model while the acculturation of cultural values was non-linear.
