Abstract:
Often, when the first unique symptoms of Epithelial Ovarian Cancer(EOC) emerge, the cancer has metastasized to other organs, with only a seventeen percent survival rate in late stages. In this work, we investigate redesigns of our patented microthermal sensor(MTS), tested in models of epithelial cancers and shown to detect statistically significant decreased thermal conductivity(TC) between normal and matched malignant tumor, yet primary site versus matched malignant site tumor revealed only a decreased TC trend. We reason and propose studies to demonstrate MTS redesign in materials and structure yield increased sensitivity and increased Seebeck Coefficient, thus detecting early EOC stages.
