Abstract:
One of the most promising fields in material science today is the study of nanomaterials, which have a variety of uses throughout the electronics and energy industries. While electronics made out of nanomaterials such as molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) have to potential to be much more powerful and energy efficient than current electronics, one major problem is that they easily degrade in contact with air. Based on previous research, we hypothesized that a hydrochloric acid (HCl) rinse would remove this degradation without damaging the remaining MoS2. These results verify this hypothesis and show the HCl rinse effectively removes degradation from MoS2.
