My research concerns queer, Latinx artists in San Antonio, Texas, and the representation of their artistic works in local institutions. Queer and Latinx bodies have always been political, especially in the City of San Antonio where this specific demographic has been under scrutiny as a result of public policy. Knowing that bodies are political, it is expected that the art produced by queer, Latinx people is to be political, too. Therefore, in their efforts to connect with the queer, Latinx community through controlled representation, I ask how artistic institutions in San Antonio are redefining what it means to be political.
