Abstract:
Family resilience refers to the ability to “withstand and rebound from disruptive life challenges, strengthened and more resourceful (Walsh, 2003).” Through an occupational balance and family systems lens, the purpose of this presentation is to explore the connection between occupational therapy interventions and family resilience for families with a child experiencing a disability. Both professionals and parents can benefit from an increased understanding of participation in occupations for children with disabilities increasing resilience, strengthening the parent-child relationship, and promoting self-efficacy.
