Abstract:
Currently, Alzheimer’s Disease is considered the most common form of dementia and one of the leading causes of death worldwide. The premise of this study was to determine how mice of different ages- 18 months and 2 months- reacted to exposure to traffic-generated air pollutants; to determine the reaction, data such as amyloid β levels, claudin-5 levels, and occludin levels were collected. The general procedure for this study was to expose live mice to the various types of pollutants and use immunofluorescence to determine protein and Aβ levels. The study confirmed that age and exposure were factors in amyloid-beta levels and Claudin-5 levels.
