The Honors College Programming Council (HCPC) is the official student organization of UNT’s Honors College. HCPC provides meaningful opportunities for students to engage with the Honors College community outside of the classroom. Each semester, HCPC hosts over a dozen events that are attended by over 600 students. All Honors College students are invited to take part in HCPC programming.

Our programs are separated into five categories, and each area is led by a Programming Chair: Art, Community Engagement, Inclusive Cultures, STEM and Student Activities.

Recruitment for HCPC leadership roles (Executive Team Members and Programming Chairs) occurs each Spring semester via online application. Keep an eye on the Honors College newsletter for applications around Spring Break! Email the Student Life team at honorscommunity@unt.edu for more information.

HCPC Program Spotlight: Make a Difference Day

Led by our Community Engagement team, Make a Difference Day is HCPC’s longest and widest-reaching event. Students had the opportunity to pack donation bags, “Dance for a Difference” (Zumba with instructors from the rec), learn about local nonprofits, and more. Over 200 care bags were packed and donated to support kids and homeless adults in the Denton community. We also partnered with 8 on-campus student groups who were invited to table at our event, opening the door to future campus collaborations. 150 students attended this event in October 2024.

HCPC Program Spotlight: DMA and Perot Filed Trips

Our first-ever dual field trip took two groups of students to the Dallas Museum of Art and Perot Museum of Nature and Science, where they received free admission and free rein to learn and explore alongside Honors College peers. Longer trips like these don’t just improve students’ familiarity with the Honors College; they also foster student relationships beyond what is possible at traditional, on-campus events. Over 70 students participated in these field trips in November 2024, increasing their access to public museums and providing both community and academic enrichment.
