Oral Presentation of Research Guidelines
  • Students will have up to 15 minutes to present their research, including the time to answer any questions from the audience. 
  • Students may use a visual aid, such as PowerPoint, with their oral presentation. 
  • If using presentation slides or other digital materials, students must bring them on a thumb drive or must be able to access them through an internet-based application such as OneDrive or Canva.
  • A laptop, microphone, a projector screens will be available for use. Students must use the provided  technical equipment as it will be already be connected to the audio and visual systems in the room.
  • Physical aids are allowed but any demonstrations that involve the use of hazardous materials or potentially dangerous procedures are strictly prohibited.
  • Students may not present with others. If the applicant has been working with a team, the Scholars Day entry must highlight the presenter's individual contribution to the project, even though the overall presentation may feature the team project.
Presentation Time and Setting
  • Oral presentation sessions will occur in the morning and early-afternoon of Scholars Day (9:30 am - 1:45 pm).
  • Students will be assigned to a specific presentation time with approximately 2-3 other presenters.
  • Presentations will be given to a small audience of fellow presenters, UNT faculty, and other guests.
  • Students with accepted oral presentation applications will receive notification of their assigned presentation room, and time, in March.
Additional Considerations
  • If students would also like to present a research poster, they must also fill out an application to present a poster.
  • All presenters are invited to the poster presentations at Scholars Day on April 21st at 3:00 pm and the reception at 3:45 pm. Multiple raffles will be held starting at 3:00 pm. Raffle winners must be present to win.
Required Mentor Response

The poster presentation application required approval by the student's faculty research mentor. Mentors will automatically receive a mentor approval form on February 22nd, 2027, after the student deadline elapses. Mentors will be asked to review the research abstract and respond to the application by March 8th at 12:00 pm (noon). Students will receive an email when the mentor form is sent and when the mentor responds.

Scholars Day Presentation Application

Applications to present an Oral presentation of research are due February 22nd, 2027 by 12:00 pm (noon). This application requires approval by the student’s UNT faculty mentor.

Only the application is due by the February 22nd 12:00 pm (noon) deadline. Visual aids and other presentation materials for the oral presentations are not required until the day of the event.
