Honors Awards (Effective Fall 2016)

Honors College Scholar Award

Hours: 18

GPA: 3.25

We encourage students to take as many Honors classes as possible. Remaining hours can be earned through various Honors enrichment opportunities. Allows up to:

  • 2 mentored research experience per department
  • 3 Honors contracts for 9 hours Honors College credit
  • 6 hours of Honors study abroad credit
  • 9 hours of transfer Honors credit from a NCHC program earned after High School graduation
  • 2 Internships/Practicums/Student Teaching experiences through HNRS 4200Z
  • 3 Graduate Level classes for 9 hours of Honors College credit

Advanced Honors College Scholar Award

Hours: 12

GPA: 3.25

(Thesis required)

HNRS 3500 Thesis Proposal and an Honors Thesis (HNRS 4951 or department equivalent 4950/4951) are required.   We encourage students to take as many Honors classes as possible. Remaining hours can be earned through various Honors enrichment opportunities. Allows up to:

  • 2 mentored research experience
  • 3 Honors contracts for 9 hours Honors College credit
  • 6 hours of Honors study abroad credit
  • 2 Internships/Practicums/Student Teaching experiences through HNRS 4200Z
  • 3 Graduate Level classes for 9 hours of Honors College credit
  • No transfer Honors credit is permitted
  • This award is only available for Transfer Students

Distinguished Honors College Scholar Award

Hours: 21

GPA: 3.25

(Thesis required)
