Mid-sized Texas boomtowns have seen an expansion of historic districts at the same time that they have experienced rapid growth. Existing literature on Texas historic districts used quantitative methods to discover a positive correlation between historic districts and property value increases. This study expands upon that work by comparing Denton and Georgetown historic preservation strategies and their relationship with property value and preservation of historically marginalized communities. Through exploratory interviews and GIS mapping, I found notable differences in local historic planning processes and their impacts that laid the groundwork for more advanced financial and social analysis.
