Abstract:
Nebulin is a relatively large protein expressed in skeletal muscle, that plays a significant role in various functions. However, its full structure has not yet been elucidated, apart from the repeats in the sequence. Thus, this project aims to utilize computational methods to recognize correlated mutations in nebulin. BLAST was used to acquire sequences that were homologs, based on the sequence's E value, query cover, and sequence identity. The sequences were then processed into their respective repeats based on certain motifs. The multiple sequence alignment was then formed using the MUSCLE algorithm and correlated mutation analysis was performed using the CAPS server. This method is not perfect however, and additional trials are being run in order to deduce correlated mutations within nebulin's structure and between its interacting molecules.
