To provide a more consolidated depiction of the COVID-19 pandemic, we scrutinized the Texas government’s mitigation measures to determine the effectiveness of different policies on infection rates. Daily infection count data from the Texas Department of State Health Services was smoothed using a two-week moving average. After identifying fifteen dates of policy implementation, we identified 5 specific Texan COVID-19 policies which substantially contributed to skyrocketing coronavirus cases. Phases 1, 2, and 3 of the reopening plan, which allowed retail locations to partially reopen, were accompanied by an upward trend of new COVID-19 cases after each date of policy implementation.Poster:
