Abstract:
The Mdr2 gene is a gene in the liver that is abnormal in patients with the disease Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis-Type 2 (PFIC2), a disease that can cause liver failure in children. It is especially important because the knockout of the gene can lead to cancers such as hepatocellular carcinoma, liver fibrosis, and tissue inflammation. Using microarray data analysis of MDR2-knockout [Mdr2(-/-)]mice (which lack MDR2 in their liver) or control Mdr2(+/-) mice, I aimed to discover the specific pathways and genes that were significantly upregulated or downregulated based on the genotype and age.
