The simple task of holding a conversation presents a difficult challenge for individuals facing motor impairments, such as Cerebral Palsy. These impairments often result in the inability to speak and communicate, causing individuals to utilize speech tablets. This current method is not an adequate solution because quickly and accurately pressing buttons is not feasible to maintain a fluid conversation. To simplify communication solutions, we present the app TalkMotion, which utilizes simple shakes of an android device to produce utterances. Data collected from the device’s accelerometer in the X, Y, and Z planes records movements and translates them into speech.
