Abstract:
The topic of research is the formation and transformation of secondary organic aerosols. A secondary organic aerosol is a type of particulate matter that makes up a significant portion of the atmosphere. Its formation can occur in several ways, the most common being the oxidation of volatile organic compounds while in the gaseous phase, and the development through continued chemistry over several generations. Dr. Hildebrandt-Ruiz focuses on several aspects of these aerosols throughout her papers under review. Overall, a common theme for her earlier studies is a focus on isoprene-based secondary organic aerosols, which employs an experimental methodology.
