Abstract:
Death is an existential phenomenon that commonly evokes some anxiety for individuals. The relationship between an individual’s intolerance of uncertainty and death anxiety seems tangible because human experience after death is entirely unknown. Based on previous findings, it was reasoned that mental toughness would buffer the impact of intolerance of uncertainty on the death anxiety an individual may experience. The present study examined the direct and indirect effect (via death attitudes) of intolerance of uncertainty on death anxiety. It was hypothesized that intolerance of uncertainty would significantly associate with negative death attitudes (i.e., avoidance and fear of death) which would result in great death anxiety.
