What are you afraid of? For Bonnie Jo Stufflebeam, science fiction/fantasy/horror writer and anxiety sufferer, that answer is everything. Rather than letting her fears get the best of her, she learned to funnel them into her writing. Stufflebeam will talk about various strategies she’s used to turn her nightmares into story lines and, like the best of fantasy heroines, cultivated bravery through facing the monsters in her closet.
Bonnie Jo Stufflebeam’s fiction and poetry has appeared in over 40 magazines and anthologies such as Clarkesworld, Lightspeed, and Beneath Ceaseless Skies. Her novelette “The Orangery” was a finalist for the 2016 Nebula Award. Released in 2015, her collaborative fiction-jazz album Strange Monsters centered on the theme of strong women making unconventional choices. She also created and coordinates the annual Art & Words Collaborative Show in Fort Worth.
