Since not every successful person has had the support and acceptance of their parents this study was designed to determine the effect that parental acceptance and support has on the academic success of students. To determine this, we scored answers from interviews with McNair program scholars about family acceptance, understanding, and stress to compare to GPA scores and the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire (SACQ). By doing this we hope to determine if there is a significant connection between a student’s parental support and acceptance and a degree of academic success.
