Parental Support and Personal Reflection: An Analysis of College Transitions in Honors Students
Abstract: 
With the increasing number of gifted high school students that partake in accelerated classes in (Dual Credit/AP) and go on to become members of Honors college programs, it is of growing interest to investigate their transition from high school to college. Previous research examines the support received by mainly general education students in their high school to college transition, but little is known of how accelerated and gifted students adjust. My study will investigate Honors students perceived parental support during their high school to university transition by utilizing a self-report survey and 3 short answer questions to gain a deeper understanding of their personal experiences. I hope this study will provide valuable information on the extent to which parental support plays a role for these high achieving students, as well as what individual differences may contribute to smoother transitions.
